Since you missed it

So I thought I'd share this video we (Lise) managed to catch so you can see the day Gregor started walking across the room by himself.

I tried not to pay too much attention at first, it seemed every time I tried to record him or watch him walking he would fall down after the first step- I think he did that on purpose.

He is loving walking by himself- of course he is still falling down all the time but it makes his day when he walks more than two steps.

We also recently had a nice impromptu visit at Murray park with your sister- but you knew that since you called just as I was leaving.

Not much else going on with us, just excited that you are coming home soon. Anyway I'll leave you with a picture Lise took of our cute little munchkin that shows his wonderful personality to its fullest. Miss you.

More Phreaky Phood

WOW, have you ever eaten "Crispy Fried Pork Knuckle"... I HAVE!! Bet you're jealous!!

There are a lot of interesting food choices here. I ate peanuts with tiny salted fish heads, of course I didn't know about the little fish heads until it was too late... Strange little eyeballs staring back at you from a handful of what you thought were just salted peanuts. If you order fried shrimp, you get the shrimp fried, heads, shells and all served up on your plate. Crunchy!!

Another local favorite here is Green Mangoes covered with Shrimp Paste. They sometimes spice this little gem up with some hot pepper vinegar. That was one of the most interesting taste sensations yet.

Even McDonalds is interesting here. Not only do they have fried chicken and rice on the menu, but they will deliver right to your house!! Imagine if they did that in the US. You could go from Big Mac Attack to Big Heart Attack without ever leaving your couch.

We haven't really left the factory much to see any of the beautiful countryside yet, but it looks like we will have some downtime Thursday, so maybe I can actually post something other than the crazy food that I am eating... Well, here is a picture from the factory...At least it is not more food pictures!!!

Keeping updated

So Gregors eighth tooth has finally poked through- it has been sitting there on the edge of his gums for a month now making him cranky. Now maybe we'll all be a little less cranky.
So we've had another first in our household this one due to the absence of my sweet husband- Gregor has been given a bath by mommy for the first time ever. I think we did pretty well although Jason is better at it (he does have way more practice).

So we are pretty boring otherwise just doing a lot of running around and messing up the house, we figure it will give Jason something enjoy when he gets home.

Fathers Day

So how did fathers day go without the father? We did our chores like we usually do on Sunday. We happily made it in the house about five minutes before dime-sized hail came down in our neighborhood after our grocery shopping. We visited at Jennys house and celebrated Matthews birthday and fathers day with Grandpa Don. Gregor enjoyed spending time with Grandpa:
Throwing things for the dog to fetch.

Putting neat toys in his mouth.

Just enjoying Grandpas company.

The one time he actually looked at the bunny instead of ignoring it existed.

Gregor is now enjoying hanging out with Lise as I post this. All in all a normal little day since Jason left, I hope Jason had lots of fun where he is but missed us as much as we missed him.

Phreaky Philippine Phood

Well I have been here for two days now and I have already eaten some "different" things. I was taken to a restaurant that overlooked a lake with a volcano in the middle. It was quite a lovely place. For lunch we had garlic rice with a dish called Pla-Pla en Gate. (Tilapia simmered in coconut milk) We also had tiger prawns, a pork dish called Adobo, and a dessert called Halo-Halo made with mixed fruit, beans, iced milk, and an ice cream made from purple yam. This was all served inside of a young coconut, so that you could scrape the young coconut meat with your spoon and eat it with the rest.

That night I was taken to a Chinese seafood place where you pick from several live choices to have prepared for you. All of these meals are served group style, so the group orders three or four items, and you all share the food. My host ordered steamed crab, a strange orange looking fish, pork spare-ribs, and an item called sea mantis. The sea mantis is fried whole and you eat the whole thing shell and all. Yummy....

Picture of the Lake. The Volcano is the closest little island in the middle.

This is a picture of traditional Halo-Halo, mine was served in a young coconut.

And this is what a live Sea Mantis looks like in the tank. Kind of reminds me of a large Pillbug.

Thats all for now... Further bulletins as events warrant...

For Jason

Well my dearest love you are gone only two days and are missing things & it makes me even sadder that you are gone.

Gregor has added a new word to his repertoire of momma, dadda and ta-da; he clearly said grandma today- my mother was so happy :)

He also took two little steps before falling on his butt- Mike and Lise can verify it happened. Mikey is becoming a prime favorite of his as he runs him about and helps him fly and such.

He has been very clingy and needed a lot of reassurance - I think he misses his daddy. I hope things are going well and I'll leave with some pictures of our cute happiness. Love you.

Off to the Philippines

I'm all set to leave for the Philippines this Thursday, so I thought I'd make a new post before I left. Hopefully Laura will forgive me for going, and still be sane when I return on the 3rd of July... ANYWAY...Here are some more photos of Gregor, including a few from this years Scottish Festival! Enjoy!

Here is a happy little boy

He likes to sleep on his favorite couch cushion

I am awake!! Come get me!!
