The bummer Christmas present

So over the holiday Gregor has received the present of his very first cold. On Saturday he started coughing- something we at first just chalked up to the weather being dry. As the day went on the cough just got worse and worse & then he started getting a snotty nose.Poor kid is miserable and has twice coughed so much he puked (right on me as a matter of fact- Yes I do think he waited). He hasn't started feeling better yet and actually had a little bit of a fever today. He is, however, using his time wisely by getting more sleep and a lot more snuggling in so he should be okay again soon.

Busy

It has been a little bit busy lately so I'll just update a whole bunch of stuff all at once. We took Gregor to see a Santa on Saturday, he just looked at us like 'so another strange person I don't know is holding me- can I go home now?'
He has been completely indifferent to all the Christmas rigmarole, not even the lights on the Christmas tree excited him.
On Sunday we had my cute little nephews blessing and naming ceremony. It is amazing what a patient little baby Xander can be, he even puts up with Gregor who is very grabby and likes to pinch. After that we went to Austin and Diego's birthday party it was nice but I now know what the center of a vortex of choas looks like- I was very tired when we got home on Sunday. We had a nice Christmas Eve with all my siblings & we received really nice gifts. My favorite is still the Totoro hat Lise made for Gregor, it makes him laugh so much when I use it like a puppet and sing the Totoro song. Our Christmas this morning was very nice we got Gregor a few toys (one that looks like it is straight out of Whoville) and some practical use items- we hope to have the gate on the stairs up tomorrow. We figured Gregor would love playing in the box- he liked it much more than playing with his Who-toy.
Gregor has gotten further in his quest to crawl- either that or Jason has started punishing him by making him do pushups.
We spent this afternoon at Jenny's house and had a good time visiting. So all in all a great holiday. Hope everyone else has had a wonderful Christmas and for all our friends and family that aren't here we miss you and hope to see you soon.

Jabbermouth and other baby news

So Gregor pretty much talks all the time these days, he will happily burble for hours to anyone that will respond to his jabber. He really enjoys exploring the upper registers of his voice and if he can do it in your ear all the better.

He has also been rolling like a fiend and trying to get up on hands and knees- he will first raise up on his arms and stretch up tall, then he will put his head down and try to stick his butt in the air, it has been highly entertaining. Even without crawling though he has started moving about, he has been wiggling and kicking until he scoots- mainly backward- so we are desperate to get our stair gate up soon since he no longer stays where we put him.

Gregor has been a cranky little boy lately as his routine has been ruined- I haven't been getting enough hours from home so he and I have been going in to work (my company is great to let me bring him) but it is too noisy there to nap for very long. Poor little guy, I'm working on fixing the problem but until then Jason gets to live with two cranky people.

We are now starting him on cereal a bit as well- he completely hated it and had to suck his thumb for comfort after every bite.
As you can see from his facial expression he is wondering how he got saddled with such jerk parents.

We are all decorated for Christmas, Gregor is completely unimpressed, too many new things to be impressed about a tree in the house I guess but still seemed to enjoy his Christmas outfit.

He does put up with his mommy dressing him up in adorable (i.e. dorky) outfits really well.

Weekend

So we had a really nice weekend, my mother was kind enough to watch Gregor for us on Saturday so we actually got to see a movie. That is one thing I have really missed since having a baby, seeing lots of movies, I guess we could be like those jerks that bring their way too young kids to theatre but I wouldn't be able to just sit there if he started crying so I'd probably miss the best parts anyway. After we took Gregor out and did our sub-for-santa shopping, I think this is the only safe age to bring your kid to the toy store so it may be the last he sees of it for a long time. On Sunday we went down to Fairview and visited Grandpa Stewart & I finally got one of the four generation photos I've wanted:

We had a really nice visit, Grandpa is as sweet as ever & we got to see some nice pictures of Grandpa, Grandpa & Maretta when they were young. We also spent some time taking photos in the cemetery for my genealogy (it is rather convenient that its mostly in the same place, but then we spend forever taking photos). My mom came along and took a lot of pictures for us, it is so helpful having a mother :)

Today we had the soup and cookie exchange, everything was really great as usual but because I was taking care of a cute little monkey during most of it I didn't end up gorging myself on cookies like I usually do (I still don't know if that is a good or a bad thing).

A baby makes you crazy

So I have found some weird differences in myself since having a baby, like today I totally obliterated a spider. That might not seem weird unless you know that unless a spider was is certain parts of my house (bed, bath or ceiling) I didn't usually kill it, I have in my day walked quite a few out the door. Now with the knowledge that they are mingling on the floor with my little cutie they are dead meat. Not just dead meat- mangled to a pulp for daring to tread the same floor with their creepy little bodies.
The other thing lately is my level of forgetfulness. I'm forgetting things until days later, thinking I have told people stuff that I realize way after the fact that I just thought about telling them & just forgetting to do regular ever day stuff. I have actually several times this last week forgotten to lock my car door, something that in the past has always been an obsession. I'm also glad I have the baby with me otherwise all the talking to myself would be totally insane- or at least seem that way.

I have a spoiled baby

So in the interest of keeping my sweet nephew away from other sick babies I offered to babysit today. We had lots of fun playing on the floor, reading stories, & me singing (I'm not sure that is really fun for them but they do laugh).

As you can see they are both as cute as can be & Gregor always loves his mommys attention. Gregor was really good for the most part today but really hated sharing the full on mommy attention that comes with feeding. Every time Xander had a bottle Gregor would cry & if Xander made any noise while Gregor was eating waterworks again, after a few hours of shared attention he has been a clingy little cutie ever since. Maybe I shouldn't indulge him so much but he is so cute I can't resist. Anyway we had a lovely day- I am a little worn out though and happy I don't have twins :)

Thanksgiving

So we hosted our first ever Thanksgiving, it turned out really nicely (at least we think so, maybe my family has another opinion).

Everyone had a good time chatting after eating the delicious turkey Jason and I made, everyone enjoyed it more since Jason missed his usual rounds of taking ugly pictures of people while they are eating.

We have been having a very nice weekend playing with our cute little monster, he has been mostly cheerful this weekend and has really seemed to enjoy having extra time with daddy.

We have also learned something fascinating this weekend, behold the magic candy bowl:

Candy in this lovely glass pumpkin, no matter how good, no matter how easily reached will not be eaten by Jason, the second the candy is put in it the candy no longer exists in his thought process. I have long wondered why candy doesn't get eaten in our house and this magic candy bowl is the reason (I know I am pleased with the knowledge- the next time I have candy I don't want to share).

A Work in Progress

We are all moved in and slowly getting everything packed away. I have set up all of the important items (computers, TV, etc.). Laura has broken in the new tub. We love the new house and have a few pictures of our new place.

Here is the view from our dining room. Our new fridge and microwave are visible. Once we are rich we will be getting a stainless steel oven and dishwasher to match...

Here is the view of our dining area. This was where most of the boxes were stacked when we moved in. Those are all gone, and we should be getting our new table and chairs the day before Thanksgiving.

This is our temporary entertainment area. We are planning to retire this old TV and have the new one placed downstairs in our basement family room. That wont be for a while, so it'll have to do up here for now.

Gregor had his 4 Month Check-up last week. He now weighs in at 14 lbs 10 oz and 25 inches long.

Also, I had an ingrown tonail removed last week...fun...

Hey

So we are half unpacked and are really sick of it- I think we are going to be in this house forever because I really hate moving. It is so wonderful having a place of our own though and Gregor has gotten used to the new place rather quickly (yeah- happiness ensues). I'd also like to thank everyone who helped us move and all those that offered to help us move, we really appreciate it. I'll post more and maybe some pictures when I'm less tired :)

More kilt :)

So Peri, Gregor is shocked that you would even ask what is underneath his kilt- he thought you could see his bare feet :)

And since the rest of the family wanted them here are a couple more pictures from the shoot:

So there you go- aren't my guys adorable? :)

Ahoy there Matey!

Gregor would like to start by wishing everyone a happy talk like a pirate day! He has been mumbling like a pirate all morning :) I've also been writing like a pirate all morning (I love new fonts- http://moorstation.org/typoasis/pirates/index.htm)

Mommy is tired like usual but it has been a little more trying this week as Wiggles had his 2 month vaccinations and has hated mommy all week for it:

I still get a smile from time to time though:

Anyway his doctors appointment went well otherwise and he is now up to a hefty 11 lbs 9 oz and 23 inches long. As a comparison to his earlier size we have these pics:

As you can see he is getting bigger by the minute :) So we are still a happy group even with the little bit a cranky thrown in this week.
Anyway I was also going to post a few more pictures of the kilt shoot but I am running out of time so I will just have to do that later.

Excellent photoshoot!

Laura and I recently had some "professional" photos of Gregor taken at a private studio. We had him dressed up in a little baby Kilt. (Thank you Liz for the perfect little vest!) She also took some naked baby pictures and some pictures of all three of us. Here is a small selection of the photo's.(She took about 50-60) We will be getting full resolution copies of all the photos on CD, so we can get all of the prints that we want.
